about

“Alterations in Metals Structures” is a series of compositions for instruments made of metal: self-built tubolar bells, glockespiele, trumpet, no input mixers and live electronics (circuits are made of various metals). Metal is a very fascinating material and is a fundamental part of our human lives and of the technological development of our species.

The compositions are heavily based on repetition which is one of the most important feature in music. A solid structure, seamlessly unbreakable, that slowly evolves and changes in little details until it becomes something else. Vague recalls to gamelan and balinese music and to american minimalism are part of the compositions.

The goal of “Alterations in Metals Structures” is to create a double alteration: subtle modifications to the musical structure represents the tranformations of the materials; the use of repetition alterates the perception of time and space in the listener with its ritual and endless static evolution.

“Alterations in Metals Structures” starts from the concept of metals alterations and from the free improvisation method. Everything was recorded live on the 25th of May 2021. No overdubs.
